The Big Easy.........by artist Tanya Tanski
Streetcars in New Orleans have been an integral part of the city's public transportation network since the first half of the 19 century. There are currently three operating streetcar lines in New Orleans: The Riverfront, The St. Charles Avenue Line, and The Canal Street Line, (pictured here). They are called RTA, which is the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority.
Canal Street has three lanes of traffic in both directions, with a pair of streetcar tracks in the center, and Canal Street is a major thoroughfare in the city of New Orleans.
The seating capacity is approx., 52 and the standard fare for all three lines is $1.25 with discounts for senior citizens. Passengers with disabilities and passengers two and under can ride free. Transfers to other routes are available for only twenty-five cents.
